Anti-stall or SCV

Postby Jim Archer » Thu Sep 14, 2017 9:43 am

Mk7 2.4 RWD 2010, finally got round to sorting the bodged clutch switch, but still have the occasional hunting idle with the clutch in - 'specially soon after starting from cold. Adjustment(?) is still not right as it's easy to stall 'cos the revs drop whilst the clutch is still being slipped, at which point it grabs .....

What should Anti-stall rpm be? It shoots up to 1200, where our work 12 plates only rise to 1000 and fairly gently at that.

Is it just a case that it needs update(s) and the learns done - it's got 250K showing and no record in the service book of any such thing, had independant sevicing from new by the looks of it and recipts for/listing everything.

If it helps any, there is another small issue, if you rev it hard through the gears - it's limited to 70, so like to give the Cat a toasting every now and again - between 3rd and 4th there's a slight hesitation as you get back on the gas after changing up. Cleaning the MAP reduced this but not fixed. Turbo actuator appears free but not stripped it to check due to work being V busy.

Not a problem to put new PRV and SCV on, but I'm a great believer in leaving things be if they ain't going wrong.

Give it a pcm update and then do a pump and pilot learn, good service if needed and maybe clean the inlet manifold out.

A days work all in. Maybe do an injector leak off test before the pilot learn and if any are out of range then sort that before doing the pilot.

Very least change the fuel filter.
If you fixed the clutch switch, pump the pedal and engine revs fluctuate. :-)
You can also use ids live data.:-)

Must admit I haven't done the filter yet, as it had a Ford one just before I bought it as matey thought that might it might be the filter.

I get booked in with Martyn and see what happens, worst that can happen is I have to fit a SCV and get my VCM11 sorted.
