Mk7 gearbox question

Postby RECKLESS ROAD » Sat Sep 16, 2017 10:12 am

Just a quick question , is the gearbox the same on a mk7 6 speed 2.4 rwd up to 2011 as the mk7 6 speed 2.2 rwd 2011 onwards ?

I have a 2008 2.4 camper and I need to change the gearbox , I've seen one for sale but it's from a 2012 rwd which was the 2.2 engine , will it fit ?

As far as I know buddy the 6-speed RWD box is the same regardless of it being a 2.4 or 2.2...the first reply to your question say's different....you'd be better waiting for additional input that may prevent you from buying something you don't want & chiming back in to call me a "Prat" just like that tosser with a Sprinter has.

I "think" the prop shaft is a slightly different length between the 5 & 6 speed boxes, also the rear box coupling...worth checking at least..!

Was the prop shaft off a Mk6 or Mk7 6 speed..? Was if off the same size van, SWB, MWB, LWB or Jumbo..?? I think they're possibly all different lengths, two or three piece.... with one or two center bearings.

Does it bolt straight onto the 5 speed box coupling..??

Excellent work.

I think the clutches may be different has a DMF as well, the 5 speed has an external slave and a clutch arm, the Mk7 6 speed has an internal CSC, better check the gearbox splines as well just to make sure they're compatible...
