Raised suspension options

Postby eurokiwitransit » Wed Aug 29, 2018 12:52 pm

What’s involved with lifting the front end? I have a 4x4 2.4tdci with bigger tyres and wouldn’t mind a little more clearance up the front!

Another dude makes extended shackles for the rear leafs if you want to level it out.
BUT be cautious how much you lift it though! Make sure you don't risk over extending or fouling the driveshafts

Thanks mate that sounds like a pretty simple solution. I’d only need a 2” lift. The rear is already pretty high so the front being lifted would actually level it out.

I don’t have Facebook but I’ll try get in touch. Do you know what they cost?

Is there anything else I’d need to consider with the suspension geometry apart from driveshaft angles?

Just get your tracking checked afterwards to make sure but shouldn't really affect it much.

Just sent again. For some reason I think it saved a draft rather than sending?

Hi, I know that I´m very late for this post^^
Would it be possible to get a contact to the guy who made the spacers?
I´m looking forward to buy two pairs of them!

Greetings
Malte

Could anyone who's fitted one of these kits comment on what (if any) effects it has on the handling and front tyre wear please?

I have a Mk7 T350AWD workshop van (and a headful of ideas), and the extra ground clearance would be handy sometimes down farm tracks - but not at the expense of falling over on the first roundabout!

Many thanks,

Anthony

You'll be fine fitting strut crown spacers just don't go too high, 35mm is good, some have gone to 50mm but at extremes the steering can hit the wishbone at full lock full extension.

It makes a massive difference to clearance and (I've found) negligible difference to tyre wear and handling, as long as you get tracking checked/adjusted after any mods.

Thank you for the information.

I asked the same question of on of the suppliers, and apparently Metal Manufacture in Dingwall are considering a modified lower wishbone to go with their 50mm kits to reset the geometry. I didn't know about the wishbone fouling issue, so didn't ask.

By the way - love your 4x4 conversion! Even just for getting around fields, 1st in the AWD is a bit high, so maybe one day...
