after a second opinion

Postby karl » Fri Aug 31, 2018 10:06 pm

got a transit in

its a 125 ps vp44 pump 4040

i have plugged it in and have

p1564,p1631,p1319

its a bugger to start , and when its running their seems to be no power in it when driving it, i have changed fuel filter etc but still the same, i have no glow plug light flashing on it either

am thinking the pump is on its way out

their is no chain rattle either

before i go and get another pump which arnt cheap £650 with the vat from pf jones

just want another opinion first

i have done a search on here but doesn't seam to be a actual answer for these fault codes, everything is hit and miss :(

no they are not permanent codes, i have deleted them and they dont come back until you get it running again, it takes about 30 turns of the key to get it going again then when you drive it their is no power in it at all, its unresponsive it use to be like a rocket " customer telling me " but he had the gearbox done a few month ago and he just told me its never been right since :!:

i just dont want to go and get another pump and it doesn't solve the problem.

do you think it can be the chain playing up ?

either way am going to have to take the front off to just but me mined at rest that it doesn't have that stupid tensinor on it :x

its a 2004 done 130,000 from new

engine code DOFA 2.4 125 ps

Check the line from the tank hasn't been damaged during 'enthusiastic' gearbox fitting.

I have this van at the yard now, still same fault codes and will not run at all now, when it was running before it broke down today it was like it was miss firing :( so going to put a new full pump on it from pf jones the price for one of these vp44 pumps cost £585 exchange

these are dearer then the vp30 pumps :(

also when had the fuel filter of today it was 1/4 full of water which has done this pump no good and the last time it was changed was 2 years ago and hes using tesco supermarket fuel, and its a shitty crossland filter

If the gearbox has been off what about the crank sensor ?
Incorrectly set or wiring damaged ?
mk7 08reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD
mk6 X reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD - scrapped
mk4 J reg 2.5 L300 LWB MHR RWD - sold on

Notice a trend there ? not too big and not too small
