Hiya.
Had a diagnosis of a gearbox failure, been test run and the clutch and dmf have been found ok.
Been pointed by the garage to be a front end bearing in the gearbox.
I’ve booked the van in for a rebuild but I’m wondering what the cost will be to rebuild it over getting a decent reconditioned box, and whether a rebuild will last longer? Not sure what’s the wisest choice.
What you you recommend?
It’s a 2012 t260 100 fwd, it’s just done 106,000 on the clock.

Symptoms of failure, loud rumble at idle, goes when depressing the clutch. Gears all change fine and engage, loud knocking that gets louder accelerating only, but consistent as I change up a gear, as in, starts low when I change gear, gets louder with gas, and starts low again as I go up through the gears and so on.

Thanks for any input !!

Having seen "reconditioned" boxes that have simply been re-painted and fresh oil put in, I would plump for having my own repaired any time, UNLESS you know that the re-conditioner is good and reliable.

Your next best bet would be a box removed from a running, accident damaged van
