[quote="Airthies"]Unfortunately the diff housing is too close to the engine oil filter...

Good day, have you solved the problem with the oil filter? I set a filter housing new sample 1842739 it less.

Cheers yaroslav that's a great call!
Having a look I reckon it should fit, but just curious about the oil gallery pattern. I think they look slightly diferent in the pics I've seen after a quick giggle but then a wee adaptor plate may be easily made to sandwich between engine and housing as bolt pattern looks the same.

I like this idea, but more research needed.

We'll have to go to the store and put them side by side, measuring the gap on the car to the front differential. I put myself on the Mk6 County 4x4 from MK7, too, rested against the box in the oil filter))

I've just ordered a second hand housing off egay, 18 squid delivered so will see.

Looks like there's diferent shaped galleries on the ranger but a wee adaptor plate maybe 8-10mm thick should take care of that.

What county 4x4 bits did you put into a mk6? or mk7?

County stopped making the 4x4s after the mk5 smilie which stopped in 2000.

Good evening, everything should stand without 8-10 mm plate, if it is a Ranger with 2,2 Puma.

So you have put a mk7 AWD box into a mk6?

As said, they stoped making county conversions after the mk5.
County conversions used all there own special drive train parts which are mostly now not available. They also lifted the vehicle considerably.

My understanding of the mk7 is that it is, not a conversion to 4x4 as such,
It's an AWD system developed by MJAllen "county" and Ford which uses hydraulic clutches to activate drive to each front wheel individually. see here.

This is not what I am trying to do.

I want 4x4 but not just AWD.
For me the difference is having an operator selectable 4wd system which gives low ratio drive. Which the "4X4" AWD transits can't do.
But there are enough examples of proper 4x4 transits that folk have converted but they predominantly use other manufacturers complete drive train.

I'm trying to do this with minimal specialist or non "Ford brand" components.
This is why I chose the ranger parts as all the technical bits need very little changing/modifying and mostly only fabrication of items such as the chassis spacers, supports, linkages etc which have been made by me.

The way the AWD gearbox is designed, and front wheels are driven, it does not foul the std oil filter.

But back to the galleries. It's easiest seen here in both pages from 1st the transit and 2nd the ranger parts lists item 6L710
2.4 mk7

ranger 2.2/3.2

I hope I don't sound ungrateful as I'm happy to hear and discuss any suggestions, and the ranger housing is a good call, thank you again.
But through my research I can't find any that are a direct bolt onto a 2.4 puma engine.
But I'm happy to be wrong

Good day, I also wanted to do on the basis of the Ranger, but I have the steering wheel on the left :( (prevents the Shaft) and AWD for my tasks came up, bought very cheap. Di of the oil filter housing exceeds TDCi, and it interfered.

I've had a look at various options similar but still think they won't give enough clearance. But should be able to do something if I pick up this wee tool

Still not getting far with the program ing controls. It's taken a bit of a back seat the last few weeks. Thinking I might have to sub it out if I can find a friendly person that's good with those kinda things
