our in Oz right? Just move to NZ pretty sure its still anything goes out there but it's been a while since I lived there

Came from there my self 10 yrs ago but things tightening up there as well.
the cert things not to bad if you got the right guy, like most things us a bit of naff, an common sense, things can be done , it mainly the charges which adds extra cost to the conversions.

now you got the lift in the back shes looking cool,
If you be ever interested in doing the electronics again let me know as down the road I be interested in doing this conversion to a new project.

I'm just wondering if I can market the conversion as a complete deal.
Fitting it to others vans with varying lift depending on preference, also reckon it'd be easily transferred to a mk8 now I know what's involved.
But yea I could consider doing the electronics as a kit part complete for the likes of yourself further afield though I'd be happy it come and do the conversion in person if you'd like make a bit of a tour of it need a good reason to head down again.

Hahaha looks like you looking for an excuse to head to the sun......lol
Well the mechanical side of the conversion could be handled easy here it's the electronic side I'm useless at. thinking of upgrading new deign camper , so this time ill do the conversion first instead of intending doing it after the campers built........ make life a hole lot easier now have convinced myself that cutting up a shell and putting sliders in works. lol

Haha looks cool.
But not sure how much I'd trust cutting the shell like that if your going to be off roading lots or in difficult terrain as the steps not designed for that much torsion would be needing some good reinforcing.
I reckon will need to see how this one goes
Yep any excuse to head south would be good

When the panels had been cut out and the reconstruction done with no slide out in place, I loaded a pallet with 2000 kgs of blocks in the back and corner jacked it till 500 mm clearance under the right and left hand tires and ended up with 1 mm distortion across the opening where the slide out is and 5 mm distortion across the manufactured L/H sliding door opening.
So was pretty happy with that.
But guess time will tell.........lol

So got the front up to match the back last wknd.
Think it sits a lot better now, not so worried about ripping the arse out the fuel tank now but still want to gst a better fitting one.
Anyone know of other off the shelf options before I start building my own?

Anyway, back to the lift....
Stripped the front struts out, removed the original spacers, cut them up and built up the new longer ones. ImageImageImage

Fitted it all and checked clearances etc, found the steering rod just rubs the wishbone on full lock so don't recommend lifting any more than about 75mm in the future rather than 80mm with a 50mm subframe drop.
Also found the brake rubber is too short so need to move the bracket down a bit and bend the copper pipe slightly, which was not an issue when it's been replaced in recent years, not so good if it's not.
Needless to say the drivers side cracked and started leaking so a bit of late night head scratching (1am on Sun night/Mon morning) and remembered I'd bought spare rear hoses when doing her vans brake lines so dug them out joined them together, fitted a new ferule nut and flared the pipe end further back gave it a quick bleed and all's good, Imagegot some new pipe ready for its next time on the ramps to get the full pipe changed when I'm fitting the diff.
Also checked out with the local propshaft guy and he's checking on new options for the front drive shafts.
Hoping to have it all fitted up for mania in a few weeks ImageImage

Work this wknd didn't for quite as planned...
Couldn't get on the ramps in the morning then delayed getting out the house on the second day and needed to be home by 3 kinda put a dampeners on progress.
Got the rear shock mounts adjusted for hight first before getting it up in the air for the diff.
Image all I had for the stick was dissimilar rods as couldn't use the mig due to being outside in the wind

But got the diff offered up and most of the mounts made, took the diff back out and cleaned all the oil that's leaking from the folded housing O'ring using brake clean, gave it a right good soaking wash with the pump bottle sprayer.

Then noticed I should Finnish the bit of bracket on the engine cross member now I had the diff out and could get to it.....
That was done no bother, only an inch of weld required, then lifted the mask to find the side of the engine engulfed in flame
Had to admit to a wee brown trow moment but it went out fairly quickly without any major issues
But in my haste to get everything finished packed up and home before the boys got home I got no pics of the diff mount yet.

Think I might drop the subframe by 3" rather than 2" if I do it again, just to get everything sitting better. But it's looking good anyway.
Just need the front mount finnished and the shafts made an were off to places unknown but want it finished before mania so no pressure
