No it's just further into the nose cone

Ah that's a bugger innit, I wonder if you could pull a starter from the junk yard with a smaller sprocket, cog whatever its called and swap it into the new starter, that said if you make an adapter plate and it works then at least you can easily fit a new starter if tours ever fails, just thinking out loud

Well ...

It's

IT'S

AALIIIIIVE
(they just don't do a proper meniacle laughing smilie)

Connect everything up and check pulse signal from crank sensor prior to fitting and setting then with heart in mouth turn the key to be greeted with an immediate purr from the faithful 2.4 darling.

Now to get it all built up and finish making up the gbox cross member. ImageImageImageImage

Good on you Iain :) Just a thought today as I fell across a mk 7 rwd block  with a dual crank   caused by a bad dmf not the first either is there a difference between a 4 and 5 cyl flywheel :?: You might be better running the 4 cyl one if so

The flywheel I've got is listed as being used in the landrover, ranger & AWD transit, so must be good for the 2.2 4pot as don't think they made them with the 2.4 or 3.2? If i enb up with a twin crank version in mine I'm going to blame it on the shagged DMF I've just taken out.

Here's some more pics of progress so far.

As of sat night the box is in and all connected with the large solid flywheel and clutch.

Gbox cross members partly made and the subframe spacers are in and subframe nipped up.

Hat's off to ya, often these things drag on over weeks and weeks... I guess free ramp time makes it easier ;)

List of the big jobs still to do are...
Finish gbox rear crossmember.
Modify fueltank to fit further down the chassis.
Move exhaust box further back
But there's things like breather pipe routing and refitting selector motor and adding it's wiring to somewhere???
Somehow seal the holes in the cab footwells where I got the front subframe bolts out.
Bleed the clutch cyl.

Oh and add the extention to the steering column always handy

Sure theirs going to be other bits but cant remember but got a day off the van and with the kids as hardly seen them last few days an can have the ramps till Monday so pressures off a little bit but not got weeks n weeks to waste as this is a working van

Tis done!
Yet undone

It drove out the workshop under it's own power about 12.30am went for a drive and everything felt fine. Though think I need to bleed clutch a bit more.
Was just putting it back into the workshop and it decided to konk out looks like it's drawing air somewhere

So had to bike home again!

Other than that I'm quite pleased with it.

Did you have to shorten the prop or are the gearboxes the same length?
