Another late one last night on the initial task of getting the rear worklights and more importantly the beacon working for a site visit today, I took my chance to fit the clocks and switch (which I made the hole for earlier).Image
Had to find ends, then join them to make the harness between clocks and stalk, then had to cut them again and find the right ends for the stalk as I'd used the wrong ones oopsImage
Got those in and ran the wires through a handy hole in the floor under the passenger seat then bundled all the wiring in behind the glove box till I get my enclosure box and bulkhead plug for the control cards then I can finish the wiring harness and relay bank properly.Image

All I need now is the front diff and sshafts slung in underneath an it's then time to see if it works or what I've made an arse of

Only 61k on the clock 8)

Does the gearbox/transfer box switch from 2 to 4 WD even without the front driveshafts fitted?

Just being inquisitive as this thread lost me at electrowizardy

Yea the drop box is just another section on the back of the main box, it just changes the drive to a shaft pointing forward.
The front end is just mechanical so doesn't matter if it's there or not.

got the rear axle spacers finished. ImageImage

By changing this conversion what you have done , did you have to get it certified for a road worthy or warrant? or what ever you guys have for vehicle safety?

As so far no.
Checked with insurance before I put the box in, but they weren't really interested, the were more concerned with "will it make it go faster?" The answer "no it'll actually have the same top speed but also make it go slower" got the response "oh well, there's no problems with that then."

I'll be double checking with insurance at the point I make the front live, just to make sure its listed on the documents though.
Then it won't be long till MOT an just see what tester says but reckon he'll be more curious than anything.
But there's less changes to structure or running gear than in you county. And not aware of any differences in regulations than you've had to deal with.

Wish it was that easy here, any modifications have to be certified, that's anything concerning structural or engine, transmission alterations, like different wheels or wheel sizes etc etc. and of course there's a charge and then noted on the vehicle register. there vehicles out there that arnt but hate what would happen if the got involved in a accident.

So a little more progress over the last week.
Got the electrics fitted a bit more permanently with the handy use of a tesco food pot as an electronics enclosure and a durite fuse and relay bank. Still not properly tidied but it's better than a bunch of wago clips an piggy back spade terminals
ImageImageImageImageImage
Then had a wee mad lunch hour fitting the finished spacer blocks on the rear axle which has lifted my fully loaded van only just slightly higher than the Mrs nearly empty van Image

ImageImage
Just need to adjust position of shocker mounts on axle and add the new spacers in the front to level it out.
Then finish electrics properly, then mount front diff an get shafts altered to fit an it's practically done

Latitude E6000 Series, answers everything ;)

Good work, I have used that little DC-DC converter for a number of things,

Its great to see a unique project combining multiple skills progressing and bearing fruit.
