No time to scrutinise that plus I've never been taught algebra :?
Your x's look like little bums though

On a serious note, just confirm.
1. You need digital or analogue output /imput.
2. You require hardware or software Switch.
3. You are using 12v+ not ground to do the switching?

Bloody Ford, can't be that difficult, think think loot :P

So.......
5v system (controlling a set of 12v relays for motor direction which were not worrying about now as that is just wiring after the output)
Switch has 2 wires but has 3 positions which are a diferent resistance so giving a set voltage for each position (which is something like 2.5v 3v & 4v can't quite remember off top of me head)
So one input will be monitoring the voltage change,
It then has a second input from the selector position. Which also will be 3 positions but not tested it yet.
So depending on what its reads from the switch and the selector will determine what it is required to do in regards of activating motor relay to turn selector CW/CCW and turn on selector mode LEDs
Not that complicated
So inputs will be analogy and outputs digital... unless I want to get fancy and put in a colour changing LED for the mode indicator
Ps never got into Angies bra at school either would of liked to though

You still not done it yet?

3 comparators 2 pounds set them up to the relays and switch, job done.

Bloody pi :P
I like making a meal of things....
Roam didn't get lost in a day you know
But I think I need a dedicated power source as the trinkets not got enough oomph on the 5v output.

Sent from my anu5 using crapatalk

Does the trinket have a comparator feature?

If have comparator 1 at 5v
2 at 2.5v
3 at 4v
(whatever it needs for the 3 settings)
And the outputs osso trigger the led you wanted or even setup an 8 block led so it reads the gear?

Just a case of twiddling your knobs then to set it up 8)

The compator powers a relay to so you can direct output that to the relay of the box or bypass it?

I'll mess I'm missing other requirements?

I don't know whether the trinket or camparator circuits suffer drift though, also the range ability, 5v to 4v might not be seen or if it is slow to react?

Worth a look though

Or

Simple is best. [/quote]

Yea was looking at those and some other options last night too. Though had a thought that I've got an old car sub charger that I could repurpose for the job as the max 5v output from the trinket is 150mA or BUS USB output of 500mA I don't think it's enough for the selector sensor circuit.
If I try to use the USB BUS output it drops it's voltage to 1v as soon as it's connected.

Think I'll copy these here unless you want to move and tidy up instead?

Not sure I follow?

Can always keep this thread going until you've finished the project then we can tidy up the food bits and condense it into a how to thread or something? :D

No it was me that started it just your links I thought it'd be nice to know where they were
Going to have a play with a 3.1A charger see if that makes a difference

So getting a reading with a 3.1A usb charger running the selector sensor.
Unfortunately it doesn't appear to have any incremental positions just a smooth increase/decrease depending on direction) of rotation for one full turn so now need to go back to the gearbox and work out each position of the barrel for each range selection.
But getting somewhere...... I think.....

Ok chaps. Or the ones bored/sad enough ones who are reading this....

Am I right in thinking the PCM runs the sensors at 5v?
Pretty sure it is but can't find confirmation in any documents I've got.

I recall the map having a 5v signal so can we assume so? Although each item is direct so can be either I guess.

But what about this, rather try 5v on a 12v system than 12v on a 5v system? :o

My you get the avo out and looksee?

Thought you'd have been done by now and videos of you grass tracking :P

Looking at it, the MAP, EGR & VNT all have a comon feed which comes from the PCM (rather than a fuse) so im guessing there a 5v system.
so thinking i could use that as a power source for the selector position sensor since my vans only a 115 so no VNT :D
thats if this wee thing that turned up today doesnt deliver a stable enough voltage.

In other news got a bit more done on the gearbox mount and subframe spacers. still lots to do and it takes bloody ages when your trying to squeeze it into lunchtimes and short spels after hrs. ive had the gearbox for months now...  :?

just need space an time.... bloody jobs and family
