Wheels

Postby daniel.j.sinclair » Tue Sep 18, 2018 10:05 am

Morning all.
So I’ve been looking for 17”or 18” alloys for my mk6 for a few weeks. No luck.
Alternatively what steel wheels could I get? These would probably be 16”.
My current wheels are steel wheels, 195/70/15c and their like milk bottle tops.
Thanks

Thanks.
A google search brought up a result of someone who fitted defender wheels. He said no adjustments where needed. Fitted perfectly. The pcd of those is 5X165.1. He was told he’d need to redrill the holes in the wheels but he reckoned they fitted.

Yes they fit on the van without redrilling but they are not hubcentric so centres are required to make them safe.

Would I be able to use these?
Thanks

I used 5" diameter 6mm steel discs welded to the centre of the wheel with a 65mm diameter hole cut in the centre.

That looks like a lot of work to find someone to do that and then hope they balance up ok.
Thanks

Suppose. I do like the idea of wide steel wheels without worrying about them being alloys. Also can change colour dead easy.
Thanks

There also a required taste as some don't like the look of them once on, it all depends on what you want your van to look like, a few people have fitted sport van rep alloys or transit custom alloys.

Ideally I want alloys but as said above, I’ve looked for weeks and nothing about.
