Rear axle swap

Postby ballihoo » Tue Sep 18, 2018 8:54 pm

Evening,
Need to swap out my axle that keeps leaking at the seal behind the disc. Is there anything special needed or any surprises to look forward to.
How do I find how what ratio I have??
Thanks

Ford Etis will show what ratio you have.

So I know my ratio and found a used one not to far from me.
What is the removing/ reinstalling like?
Do the brakes need to be bleed using the abs pump?

Not difficult, just time consuming...ideally bleeding should be done via IDS or Forscan...but can be done the normal way if you don't have access to the software etc...

Get new U-Bolts.

I picked up a new axle yesterday as mine is wining and 5.11....

Giving it to the garage to do as I expect they will get it done in no time.

Just done my axle swap and after bleeding brakes the pedal felt like a warped disc until I did an ABS bleed with IDS which cured it
