mk6 2.0 di fwd , vibration at the front under load.

Postby oOplumberOo » Sun Sep 23, 2018 6:40 pm

Hi guys , so not sure how long the van has been like this but its kinda like the front end vibrates or you could say wobbles when you accelerate at a certain RPM, guessing it starts at 1500 ? dont have a rev counter .. even worse if you go up a hill/put it under load , can see the wing mirrors shaking , even had to silicone the mirrors in the corners as they keep moving , it does smooth out once its past a certain RPM and also vehicle speed , doesnt seem to do it above say 40 , quite noticable in 2nd gear , dont think its the wheels as its not constant , almost like somethings not balanced right? , i did fit two new complete drive shafts from a uk company that were fairly cheap , seems to be RPM related, i did replace the rear engine mount, going to see how much movment is in the engine mounts , any ideas?

I had this wobble on my 2.0l fwd mk6 which turned out to be the driveshaft, get under van and yank the driveshaft joints. Check for large amounts of movement.

I think I know what you mean now, its like the engine is butting up against the chassis and the whole van vibrates. I sold my mk6 because if this as nobody could figure it out, I sat on the bumper with the bonnet open and got someone to engage 1st gear and the only thing that looked wrong was the nearside engine mounting would kick back. When I got the mk7 a similar noise started which turned out the bolts to the nearside engine mounting had come loose.
