You don't need both either the f-super or elm327

I have the elm327 and downloaded forscan free.

With regard to F Super not working, assuming F Super formidable software installed, and correct COM port and Transit vehicle selected, check fuse 2.10 15A, according to my wiring diagram it connects to the OBD port pin 16 and also powers the tacho and clock.

That's in Forscan with an ELM adapter. I have a few Chinese ELM adapters and all haven't worked with my Mk6 Transit because they don't support J1850 PWM and don't have connections on PINS 2 and 10 I think, but they work on other cars with CAN (different pins). I pulled one ELM apart and it didn't have the J1850 decoder chip on the board, but the PINS were connected and the vendor said it supported (Ford) J1850 (lies!). So I think that adapter wont work with your Transit and you need to find an ELM with J1850 support. F-Super doesn't work with Forscan software, but you can read and clear codes and read some basic parameters with the Mobydic Formidable software (search the net), and that's what I used to use.

That's why I got the elm327 as the f super only ran formidable and didn't do the in depth stuff I wanted, it will read the codes though,

did you not get a mini disc with the f super that had the formidable software, think you have to download the drivers as well.
