Postby Ray Austin » Mon Oct 08, 2018 7:36 pm

Our transit is a 05 lwb we have owned the van for 7 years had a engine rebuild ( new pump injectors clutch etc) 4 years ago done 30,000 since then. The van has now done 164,000. Mot in January it needs some welding doing on the sills. viewtopic.php?f=5&t=188527

What the van worth we are looking to buy a newer van a mark 8 LWB l3 h3.

So we have gone and bought a mark 8 in no rush to get it picked up a bit busy with work so will have to see what time we get to swop over to the new van.

So have to decide what we are going to do with the old van the mot is due in January so will have to see if it passes don't want to spend lots of money on it to get it welded to then get not get much for when we sell it.

Had an MOT today and it failed on the following.

Date tested 24 December 2018

Mileage
164,873 miles

Repair immediately (major defects):
•Offside Rear Brake cable has restricted free movement Handbrake cable (1.1.15 (e))

Repair as soon as possible (minor defects):
•Nearside Front Lower Suspension arm ball joint dust cover severely deteriorated (5.3.4 (b) (i))

Monitor and repair if necessary (advisories):
•Offside Front Integral body structure or chassis corroded within 30cm of a mounting, but not seriously affecting overall security under drivers door (6.2.2 (d) (i))
•Nearside Front Integral body structure or chassis corroded within 30cm of a mounting, but not seriously affecting overall security under passenger door (6.2.2 (d) (i))
•Nearside Front Inner Track rod joint has play

Got a new handbrake cable so going to fit that this week. Then it will have over 12 months MOT.

Then have to sell it after moving everything over in the new year to the new mark8 van.

Have not worked out what's it worth.

So what its worth?

Without an MOT it’s not worth much more than scrap money

The cost of MOT plus scrap value...

You wont get much of a van with 12 months ticket for less than £10 a week  Worth at least £500 to a clever person :)

It never does, they’re the rip off people who offer you a good deal on your car and then knock a whole load off when you turn up in it.. webuyanycar, think they’re owned by the same group
