Mk7 OBD code reader advice req

Postby straydog » Wed Oct 10, 2018 11:18 am

Hi Guys.

Looking for a bit of advice.
I have a MK7 2008 Jumbo Bus 140.
I am trying to use a Autel MS309 obd2/eobd reader, but it won't even turn on when plugged in.
I know the reader is OK as I tried it my other vehicles and works fine.

Does anyone know if this reader just won't work with the Transit or if there is a problem in the socket in the bus.
If it's that the reader is not compatible, anyone have advice on what one will work ?
I've done a search on the forum and checked Google but can't find a definitive answer.

The only problem I'm having with the bus is it occasionally goes into Limp mode for no apparent reason,
other than it seems to happen when I've be driving slow and climbing steep hills. (French Mountains)

Thanks CVD

Check fuses, think it's No.72 which is OBD port?

Scanner options seams to be a choice of either a clone IDS from China or forscan and a modified elm327 off ebay/Amazon

Thanks for that.
I'll checkout the fuses tomorrow.
I did have a few fuse issues with the van when i first bought it.
Could have easily missed one.

I have one of the MS-309 readers, it works fine for reading and erasing codes, even does live data etc. As Airthies mentions, the fuse #72 may be your issue.

Absolutely spot on guys, fuse 72 it was. :D
I had no idea there was a secondary fuse box behind the glove box.

Reader works fine now.
Thanks for the help.
