Fridge Van

Postby Ashley S » Sat Oct 13, 2018 9:16 pm

FORD TRANSIT 100 PS 2.4TDCI 350 FRIDGE CHILLER with 79,000 on the clock for £2,300. It's in very good condition when looking at the pictures. Is it possible to get rid of the fridge panels on the inside?
I am wanting it for a "Man and Van". I can't find any good MWB/High roofs for around £1000-£3500.

Cheers!

Mine's got what I think will be spray-on insulation with fibreglass laid up on it in-situ. I doubt it will be easy to remove it completely but it might skim off like builder's foam once you've gut the GRP away.

Suits my purpose - I'm coverting to a camper, which needs insulating anyway.

Will you be left with a bloody great hole in the roof....?

Yeah that's the hardest part is the roof shame really 79,000 on the clock good MOT's etc cheap as chips as well.
Maybe I'll have to keep the fan thing on the roof and remove the insides and put in plywood.

its sprayed on fibreglass costs a lot of turnips that they use it on arsewashers too

theres only 2 pipes go through the roof for the condenser up top small hole penis size

and i paid 70 turnips for a bracket to juat to hold the compressor pump on to a transit engine about 20 years ago :o
and, and and,,,, the chiller has a stand by on it too by the looks of the plug 240 v
fooking expensive and sort after as you can chill without the engine on
peel it off and sell on egay
should get one million quid for that lot
as a conservative estimate :D

8) av it
where you can seethe pipes go up on the inside is the only hole in the roof

apart from the 4 bolts to hold it on
remove roof bit
inside bit
control bit
pump
and stand by
and sell it
get a few turnips just for the standby
and its a hubbard

Is the inside easy to remove? Is it metal panels or something?
Never done this before, pretty much my first van haha.

It's just units bolted on a few wires and 2 pipes linking them all up
A day to take it off nicely without damaging it to sell it
Couple of hours if you just cut the pipes
The gas inside is a several hundred turnips worth
You will need to discreetly loose that

This.^^

Also why would you want to remove the inside insualtion just to line it again with ply?? It looks to me that you wont gain much extra loadspace and its already lined for you. Its just a case of removing the chiller stuff and bunging up the holes or if you really must have it ply lined just glue ply to the lining it already has.

I wish my van had a wipe-clean waterproof lining like that and I cant understand why you'd want to get rid of it.

And the chiller stuff will have good value on ebay if you remove it carefully.

It looks a very similar installation to mine but mine's a GAH and the roof unit is mounted in the roof (it will have a hole big enough to climb through once I take it out).

I've a similar control panel and mains inlet mounted in the same places as yours. Plus an extra bit of crankshaft pulley to drive the compessor which is on a bespoke mounting on the front of the engine (as the van has factory aircon so already has a compressor mounted on the back of the engine).

From what I've seen the refrigeration gear should fetch you a few hundred quid on eBay, as others have said, especially if you sell the entire installation as a job lot.
