Fitting oil cooler

Postby BRINDELLA » Tue Oct 16, 2018 6:09 pm

I’ve recently fitted a second hand oil cooler, from a reputable secondhand parts specialist, on my mk7 2.4 pick up. When I’ve started the truck up the oil cooler is leaking at the seam between the block and cooler. When I swapped parts the oil cooler I removed had a steel clip on gasket the one I was replacing with didn’t so I put the gasket on the new part, should I have done this? Or is this the reason for the leak? Is there anything I should know when fitting a new oil cooler in order to avoid leaks? Any help would be much appreciated, thanks
