MK7 rear door wiring fitting rear view camera

Postby ANDY.T » Sat Oct 20, 2018 3:58 pm

Hi,

Any advice please on running a new wire to the nearside rear door?

Do the wires run inside the hard plastic bent double tube? that slides in and out of the rear door when you open/close it?

I'm running an AV cable into the rear door for a rear camera and the tube does not look big enough to take the AV cable connector and any wires that are already inside.

Going to fit a new high level brake light lens to the brake light in the nearside rear door with the camera inside.
So I need to run an AV cable from the front windscreen rear view mirror to the back door high level brake light

I have just fitted a MK6 Fiesta ST rear view mirror that has the cover for a rain sensor and the camera screen will then clip to the rear view mirror.

The van came with a rain sensor for the wash wipe so was fitted with a blank rear view mirror holder and rain sensor cover trim.
The mirror stem needs the clip recess mouldings for the top and bottom trim covers that hides the rain sensor on the windscreen and the wires that run up to the headlining.

I can then turn the camera on for reversing and to see who's behind me in traffic as if it was a rear view mirror.

I'd like to upgrade the radio later to one that has a duel camera input for forward and rear facing traffic dash cam.

This is the one that apparently does all I'd like as well as SatNav and DAB.

Any suggestions or advice please ;)

Thanks Andy.
