Battery Light + Charge Issue

Postby betamax444 » Sat Oct 20, 2018 7:43 pm

Hello,
I am hoping someone can help me as i am getting desperate.

I have a 2007 MK7 Transit which had a starter motor fail. I have replaced the starter motor which was easy to do but since then i have the charge light appear on the dashboard and the battery will not charge. (The starter motor now works)

I checked all the fuses and tried re fitting the starter motor but continued to have the same issue charging the battery.
I bit the bullet and fitted a new alternator today and still get the same problem... Battery light on and not charging.

At present i am having to charge the batteries with a battery charger just to get the van started each morning.

I have checked the battery terminals and wire loom appears OK from what i can get to and see.
I have checked the obd for any fault codes but non present.

This only started after changing the starter motor.

Any advise would be great

Thanks,

Sounds like you've left a wire off the starter main terminal,
There's the main battery positive lead, then an extra 2 wires on a ring terminal that is the feed to alternator.
(Assuming it's RWD)

I have checked that it is connected properly and it appears to be.
