Mk6 transit radio

Postby axam102 » Mon Oct 22, 2018 10:34 pm

Big thanks to everyone for the answers on my other post. have been looking at replacing the radio cassette on the old mk 6 (2002) no longer into recording the charts on a sunday evening on the old tape dec ;) I understand it isn't technically a double din set up. what have you guys found that fit with not to much messing around? many come up on ebay but dont want to fork out for something that wont fit. dont mind a bit of jiggling to get it fitted

I think some of the vans have the rear wiring allready in the loom somewhere just in front of rear wheel arches but before someone on hear told me about them I’d built the van and it was to much work to get to them at the radio end the wires where on the plug I just cut them and extended the wires for the rear speakers

6006 has inbuilt 6cd Changer.

Double Din units should fit though with an adapter.

I bought an adaptor off eBay for a few quid. It's a copy of the bezel on the original radio that just snaps into place, matching the existing dashboard trim, leaving a standard sized single-DIN opening for an aftermarket head unit. Wiring harness adaptors are also available for a few quid.
Drink moderately, eat healthily, exercise regularly, die anyway.

Thanks guys, was looking at the cd from a later version and happy to know it fits. have seen some of these newfangled DAB units and wondered if it would fit with-ought to much faf. radio reception is pants at the moment and to be honest a good signal is all i need at the mo instead of dropping out all the time.

Any aftermarket single DIN radio will fit using the above adaptor, the Mk6 6000cd will fit, as above, but the units from a Mk7 won't fit without dashboard surgery.
