HELP!! MK6 timing chain setup

Postby Davypie » Tue Oct 23, 2018 12:19 pm

Hi All.
Looking for some advice on MK6 TDDI 2.4 timing chain change.
Have everything pinned in correct positions but can't seem to get rid of the slack opposite tensioner.
Get everything nice and tight and looking like it should but when I turn motor over by hand the chain between crank and pump becomes slack!
Any help really appreciated

UPDATE
Had chain on and off about 5 times now!
Cams pinned with 2 x 6mm drills
Fuel pump also pinned with 6mm drill
Crank pinned with 13mm drill (also checked correct slot using mirror)
Copper links all line up across cams and pump. Set chain between pump and crank as taught as possible.
With all sprocket bolts loose I un-pin the tensioner to take up the slack then lock off all sprockets.
All is ok until I turn the engine over by hand then there seems to be slack between pump and crank. (All guides fitted)
When running it sounds like it has a top end rattle. Have checked hydraulic tappets and cam box and all is ok in there.
The big question....
WHAT AM I DOING WRONG!?
really appreciate any help.

is everything slackend when you let the tension-er go :?:

when you but the chain on always make sure the slack is a the tensinor end before leting it go, little tip manually do the tensinor before letting the pin go :)

Thanks for reply, much appreciated.
Yeah all is slack when I let tensioner go.
When putting chain on all slack is at the tensioner side.
Manually do the tensioner?
