These any good? LIDL battery starter/charger

Postby wexican » Tue Nov 13, 2018 9:11 pm

Hi guys, we have a couple of Mk 7 buses with twin batterys and a while ago the batterys went flat and couldnt be started on a jump start.

My mechanic said if we'd disconnected one of the two batteries it should have started ok....
I've no idea which battery to disconnect or how?
Would this Lidl charger/starter be any good in an emergency? https://www.lidl.ie/en/special-offers.h ... leId=13460

If the batteries are flat, either they're not charging or they're shot....how old are they..?? Have you had them properly load tested.??

Thanks.

Still don't follow what the mechanic was talking about disconnecting one of the batteries to make it easier to start though. Anyone an idea on that ?

Disconnecting a completely dead battery from a twin battery setup, will give the other battery a fighting chance of starting the engine, unless it's in a similar condition :!:

Don't disconnect the red lead though

My Front battery goes flatish over a few days to the point where the locking will not work and the trip meter looses it's distance. But it always starts of the rear battery fine.

I bought two identical replacements back in July but have had no inclination to fit them with it working as it does. (Just keep driving round with the extra weight!!!)

I did that with a microwave though I leve it till I decorated the kitchen so left it in the box till kitchen done 6 months later started to use it 15 months later it blow up and out of warranty had to buy a new one if I’d used it from day one it would have been replaced under warranty should have been quicker doing the painting

But will the front battery in the twin transit set up start the engine or do you have to connect it to the rear connectors? confused.com.......

I thought that front one was just for lights and radio etc.

Yes but for starting they are linked together so it will pull the outher one down to the bad batteries level that’s why on twin battery set ups 12 v or 24 v you always replace them in pairs
