horn toot with all doors shut.

Postby sortedvti » Fri Nov 16, 2018 9:27 pm

Hi.

I’ve got a transit mk7 2010 lwb that I’m putting up for sale soon. Been sitting for a while as I’ve got a mk8 now.

For some reason when I try and lock it, it hoots the horn and won’t lock the drivers door, I have to lock it with the key. My friend has put it on his diagnostics machine and it’s showing all door sensors working. They open and close as they should. So we’re a bit confused. When it’s plugged in you can see the sensor open and close when you open and close the doors.

Any ideas?

Cheers
Neil

One of the door locks isn't sending a locked signal.

Usually the side door contactors, but could be a rear door loom (where it passes through the conduit) issue.

Oh ok. How can I test each one? To lock the van I use the key fob, it then locks all doors and I use the key to lock the drivers door. The only messing about with any locks since owning the van is fitting a hykee to the drivers door.

One wierd thing is the speaker in the passenger door has stopped working. Before the van sat for the months after getting the mk8 the van was fine. No problems at all. Suddenly now I decide to sell it, it’s now got these little problems.

Just try cleaning side contacts before you start taking things apart

When it’s plugged in you can see each door is opening and closing on the program. It’s recognising all doors. Slightly confused.

Doors shut and locks are seperate signals. Are you able to access the locking module?

Use a clean rag with alcohol and the pins on the side door amd the brass contacts that these pins makes contact.

You will be surprised with much black stuff will come of it.

Do not use any sandpaper for cleaning.
