Starter motor options.....

Postby Airthies » Sat Nov 17, 2018 8:49 am

Being a bit cheeky incase the question gets lost in the other thread and for easier future reference

I have a starter to flywheel issue
Was hoping to fit a flywheel that came with the diferent gearbox i have but it's larger diameter than the original so thought a starter with the stand off mounts would work but it's still too close to the flywheel.
Either got to find the right one or space out (bodge) the starter to the correct distance not holding out much hope for getting it sorted tomorrow
Anyone got any suggestions?
I'm kinda thinking it's too much of a miss match as it's the old 2.4 engine block and the newer 2.2/3.2 gearbox and reckon the bellhousing and block backplane are diferent sizes despite the bolt centres all working out ok.
The new flywheel ringgear Has an OD of 310mm (will add OD of old one shortly but it's a 2008 2.4 rwd 115ps)
Any ideas folks?ImageImageImageImageImageImage

Is it missing the flywheel, but just very close to it? It's just it looks like the starter motor meshes perfectly with the ring gear.

What's the Ranger starter motor like, have you been able to try one?
Drink moderately, eat healthily, exercise regularly, die anyway.

Will you're original flywheel and starter not fit with the new g/box?
Otherwise maybe cut a spacer from aluminium?
