Van won't start

Postby Blackness76 » Sun Dec 16, 2018 5:24 pm

Hi All
I have a 61 plate transit that will not start, has had the copper washers replaced on the injectors, a new starter motor, new fuel pump solenoid and rail pressure switch battery is fine , alternator is fine , turns over but just won't fire up, had all filters replaced in April and has been running ok, although was a slow starter before

any suggestions / help would be greatly appreciated starting to cost me work now

Thanks in advance
Craig

We’re the scv and prv genuine?

Can you see what the fuel rail Pressure is actually sitting at?

I’ve heard of the new scv pistons being stuck before.

There are no codes showing up, mechanic managed to start it by adding fuel into the filter, could it be that there is no fuel getting through?

Sounds like an air leak...possibly a duff filter housing, connectors or lines.

Have you seen this thread, where someone recently had a similar problem?

63 plate will be Euro-5....?? Either way, the crank sensor is mounted near flywheel, see "6C-315" here..:

It's a 61 plate so don't think it's a euro 5

Yes, you're quite right, I made a mistake. Happening quite often lately  Must be old age catching up with me...or dementia....or old age...or dementia...or....oh dear.

Crank sensor should be in a similar place though.

Euro5 changeover was at the end of 2011: '61' plates are in the middle of it. Airbox is a giveaway, they're totally different between the two, or ETIS will tell you for definite.

Think someone is having a laugh here, still struggling to find the sensor, if it's where I think it is then you need to be some sort of magician to get to it
