If you've not done the learns, you're wasting your time.

Pump learn should be done first, then pilot/injector learn.

Have you reset the PRV values..??

cheers Knobby, I reset PRV and did the pump learn (took a while) and then did the injector learn, all updates did successfully!

definitely drives better and also sounds better, a bit of power has come back but still smoking the same

error code comes up with a glow plug sense circuit

If it has run with leaking injector seals for a while, it will have blown a fair bit of oil into the intake tract. My latest 140 appeared to have a good bit swilling around in the intercooler and/or pipework and needed a good 1/2 tank of thraping to stop smoking everytime you gave it the full moo.

ok thanks for all the advice so far

I have been taking it for a blast every day and still no joy

still smoking just as bad and since driving it around the power is still the same, if I slow down to 20mph and drop it into 2nd there's nothing there just all noise and no go, going uphill shifts a load of smoke out to a point where the cars behind slow down to avoid it

code shows up as glow plug issue?

anything else I can try apart from booking it into my local garage?

Sounds like either a egr fault or a vacuum pipe or hose split. I could be wrong but egr causes symptoms to which you are referring to. Don't think the fault code you have would cause those symptoms.

I know but the EGR has been changed for a new ford one, is there anyway I can test it?

Pop the boost hoses off the intercooler and see if it's full of oil. Also pop the turbo inlet pipe off an check the turbo impeller area for silly amounts of oil and see if the rotor is loose.
Check for split boost pipes too.

Duff glow plugs won't bother the engine once she's warmed up....some engines don't even need them.

ok I had a few hours on it yesterday, Intercooler did indeed have lots of oil inside, took a while to remove it, had to remove the cross bar that its bolted to and one of the bolts was badly seized, had to grind it off

anyway I cleaned the inside with petrol, flushed 5 litres through it, it was mega oily inside, it's also a bit battered,

I also purchased a new MAF and MAP sensor, just in case mine are no good,

going to fit everything back hopefully tomorrow when it's dried out

Oil is coming in through intake/turbo, remove the crankcase breather hose from the intake pipe and plug the hole in the intake.

Have you checked the turbo to see if it's still healthy..?? If it is leaking oil, it all ends up in the intercooler and then into the engine, hence the smoke.

I took the pipe off going to it, wipe my finger inside, some oil on my finger but not dripping, I could spin the propeller around,

A failing egr valve will cause low power, and also give misleading air mass sensor fault codes
