Coughes and farts with a quick squirt of easy start(not my idea by the way). Apparently both crank position and cam position sensors are working but not synced. A new cam chain was fitted about a month ago and were like a pair of old women checking, double checking, correct use of torque wrench, every thing by the book. Still no sign of engine wanting to fire up. Something stupid or am I looking at a new top end possibly???

Hmmm....the de-synch of cam and crank doesn't sound too good....I wonder if the chain has jumped..??

Should there be a lot of noise or a definite clatter and knocking when the cam timeing shifts enough to wreck the top end?

The only way around it is to re-establish sync.

Right, been on to the garage that is doing the job (it broke down 250miles away so couldn't stay with it) and after inspection, the tensioner had failed and timeing had jumped a couple of teeth.
Luckerly no damage was done to the rocker gear. New tensioner fitted, retimed and double checked, new crank sensor fitted, cam sensor working. It will spin over and run on easystart but won't fire up. For some reason its still showing as not synced. Any ideas as to what it might be, its being a real PITA.
p.s. all info ive passed on is second hand from what the garage told me

It's a Denso fuel system.
