Mk 7 Transit 2012 Instrument panel lighting

Postby swagman » Fri Feb 15, 2019 6:00 pm

The instrument panel on my van is fine at night but during the day is lie looking into a Black Hole. Cannot read speedo / rev counter etc unless sunlight is behind my right shoulder. Wd love to know if anyone else has experienced this or is it just me Suggestions as to a solution gratefully received. Regards

Silly question but do you have a dimmer switch(next to the light switch and it scrolls sideways) and is it on low or high?
Do you drive with yr lights on during the day?

Instrument lights are only on with sidelights.
The cowl can make them hard to see, i'd check the lens is clean - use a soft cloth as it is easily scratched.
Otherwise turn the sidelights on.

mk4 J reg 2.5 L300 LWB MHR RWD - sold on

Notice a trend there ? not too big and not too small

You could always get led upgrade for speedo and get a headlight switch with brightness adjustment, nb. That's to turn the led down lol, I suspect no switch adjuster will mean you currently get full power. Can you take a photo of your speedo

I have the same problem with my 2008 MK7 , without lights and driving into the sun or just a bright day the clocks are near on invisible even with the visor down,
tried adjusting the seat might need a specsavers appointment :)

I automatically turn lights on, it's just become part of the sequence now regardless of conditions,
Ignition on,
start engine,
Clutch down,
In gear,
Lights on,
handbrake off,
Clutch up,
Remember seat belt once moving
