Focus C max steering wheel swap, which airbag do I need?

Decided my 2010 T300 115 steering wheel was getting really tired, to the point it would make your hands dirty everytime you drove the van so did a bit of research and found the Ford Focus C max has a nice leather wheel with alloy inserts so decided to fit that.
On it went and plugged in the airbag, buttoned it all up, tested it and the airbag light comes on with the ignition, goes out for 10 seconds or so, then pops back on again and stays on until you switch off.
I have tried another bag, 2005-2010 focus airbag but does the same thing.
Do I need the airbag light reset due to me swapping things about or is there a conflict regarding the C max/Focus airbag and the Transit?
Or do I need a specific airbag to sort this?
part number for the fitted airbag is 4M51 A042B85 CF 3ZHE

Put your transit airbag back on , it fits the Cmax wheel

If you put ignition on with any
sh!t unplugged then you'll need sh!t reset robadobber

My airbag light stayed on for a couple of ignition cycles I recall.

You'll probably find you have 2 DTCs, a lost power/connection to airbag and the steering angle sender needs calibrating.

I used the original airbag as the C-Max airbag had two connectors (for twin airbags, I believe). I did modify the wiring inside the steering wheel as the C-Max had some kind of suppressor on the brown ground wire and there was some other minor difference that I can't remember now, so I substituted the original ground wire and got not error codes/indicators.

I expect to have to recalibrate the steering angle sensor but I've yet to drive it because other things are in bits....

So, a bit of Transit witchcraft happened this morning.
Decided to try and fit the original airbag removed from the mk7 Transit wheel and....doesnt fit. The mountings for the airbag are completely different so I disconnected the battery, went for a coffee and then fitted my other spare Focus airbag......Light now comes on with the ignition and then goes out and stays out. Weird.
I didnt do anything different this time, Ive tried this airbag on another occasion and I still ended up with the airbag light on so a very odd one.
Not that I care now as I have a nice, leather wheel, horn works as it should and no airbag light, Yay!

It sounds like you've fitted a steering wheel from a newer C-Max: the c.2004 version looks identical to the Transit one (except the boss angle is slightly different so the steering angle sensor needs recalibrating).

But all's well that ends well!
