2005 mk6 2.4 tddi rwd singel wheel

Postby KING OF ENGLAND » Mon Apr 15, 2019 7:48 pm

Need some advice lads
have just bought the above van and it failed the mot on a few things (have done most of the jobs)
but the one fail was n/s/r wheel bearing has excessive play and I cant find any play so am I checking it wrong
now as many of you know im quite good on the tools
the only movement I can find is when you have it on stands you can pull the wheel outwards slightly but its the same the other side
is that normal
so how do I check play in the rear bearings and if it has gone il send it in to be done
regards craig

I think that's what he's on aboot....the lateral play. There's some shims in the diff which need changing I believe.

It appears having spoken to a ford mechanic
That the bearings very rarely go and it’s end float that they believe is a bearing problem
And should be an advise only
So just checked all old mots and it’s failed on rear bearings quite a few times and just found a receipt for new bearings last mot only one tester has advised end float
So I’ll sort the end float out and take it for retest

Hi Guys, I'm just about to do the rear hub oil seals on a 2005 RWD single wheel minibus, does this have an end float. The diagram looks like it's a twin wheel.
