Now and again I notice a repetitive squeaking creeping in for no apparent reason, on straight stretches of road so not a lot of slowing/accelerating, turning and gear changing going on and nothing obvious seems to trigger it. Just sort of appears after a while.
I'm guessing it's coming from the wheels as I can put the clutch in and no change to the noise.
If I apply the brakes it stops!
It may creep back up again a few minutes later, though not reliably.
MoT not so long ago, no advisories on the brakes or transmission.
I'll pop it in somewhere to get the brakes checked, but I don't really trust those Halfords/ATS type centres not to try and replace loads of stuff just for the sake of selling the parts - just wondering if anyone has an idea what it could be?
Worn pads surely only squeak when applying the brakes don't they?
