Wayward steering

Postby Scooby doo » Wed Jun 12, 2019 9:20 pm

Coming up for mot, though have noticed my steering although works, tends to be a bit wonderingly, ie let go of it and it will either pull left or right and same when you brake, though not as much..
She had two new front bearings and hubs on front last autumn as the last pair decided to let go, would like my front end to be a lil more positive than what it currently is

Could be tyres or tracking, I don't think either will fail the mot unless faulty, you might have warn steering gear which will fail if there's play.

So it's recommend getting someone to check it out, should be free to have checked.

It could also be a track rod end or the bottom wishbone rear bush. Both of those should show up at the test.
Drink moderately, eat healthily, exercise regularly, die anyway.

Shall av a look under the van over the weekend, it’s still raining and laying in water is not impressing me.
I have noticed my nearside front tyre wearing quicker than the offside too..
Still need to find out why my offside brake light keeps blowing, only lasts a couple of hours, Gota feeling it’s the Earth, thou thought earth gone would take that side light out too?

My rear lights have confused the hell out of me this year, so far I’m cluster set 3 as the break light bulbs seem to melt the surrounds before blowing, but as Iv been running just nearside only it’s been fine, now it’s coming to mot time I need to get this thing working, well at least when the mot man looks at it..

Not saying it's the case but they do that when the brake light bulb is fitted the wrong way round (long periods of driving with the 21W brake lamp lit instead of the 5W tail light).

All that happens when you fit them the wrong way round is that the tail light is brighter than the brake light, basically bulbs work opposite way round..

As Andy says the bulb will melt the BeJamesesstreet out of the lamp if put in wrong .

I think I’m going av to multi metre these,
I thought as they share bulb, the bright half is the brake and the dimmer half the side light?
Only melts em when both brake are working, but as said before, since leaving the drivers brake light blown (tail light still works) the nearside has not blown, but as mot points out I need two working brake lights and not one..
While we on subject of tali lights, anyone know the reverse light has a control wire near the dash for reverse camera to splice into?
