Postby Tjdmanandvan » Mon Jun 17, 2019 8:58 pm

Hi guys i have a metalic bang/knock noise from rear of jumbo rwd it wasnt there when i bought it but has apeered and is getting worse

It happens on pot holes or speedbumps however dosent happen going up the bump just going down

I know nobody can obviously hear it but does anybody have any suggestions on what it could be or where to investigate

Thanks guys

I think the best thing is to stick your head under the bumper area and get someone to move the van up and down so you can see all the parts. Safely off course lol.

Could be springs or shocks or axle components /diff/propshaft(rwd) etc there's a lot to be loose. Hopefully when the van is being lifted out lowered you'll hear where it is coming from and see what it's doing it.

Have tried jumping up and down in it lol noise dosent happen it seems to be related to the wheel being shocked with force etc
And not the actual up and down of the van

yeah shock absorber bushes, or possibly spring hanger bushes, if its not obvious just looking at them then get a tyre lever or similar bar and give them a poke/lever about and see if you get any movement.

Check the exhaust and/or heat shield over the silencer box.

Also, is the spare wheel laying loose in the back? Mine would bounce up over bumps, then land on the way down.

Hi, is it a knocking or rattle sound? I have a loud metallic noise from the back. It's the pads rattling in the caliper. I think the steel retaining clips are missing. The noise stops if I have my foot on the brake when going over potholes or bumps
