Roof modification

Postby jamiehodges1 » Mon Jun 24, 2019 11:25 pm

hi guys just seen this online just wondered has anyone ever done this before and made a good job of it. I would of thought this person would of made the back doors open for the whole space?

Medium height rear doors could certainly have been swapped for high roof doors but that would have involved cutting the rear roof channel out and it looks like it's fitted to that. Having said that, it does look like an extra panel has been grafted in above the back doors.

Looks like it might have come off a Securicor Omega Express van.

I wonder why someone would bother with this unless it's for a specific type of load, if the load is tall enough to use the extra internal height, it won't go through the rear doors anyway. I have a normal LWB Hi Roof RWD, I'm 6' tall and can stand up straight in the back....a FWD Hi Roof has around 4" more headroom.

How comes a fwd hi top has 4inches more room than red? That's new to me as I would of just said they are the same. I was just interested in this as it would be handy if I had an extra half a foot load space

Fwd have a lower floor with not having to accommodate a prop shaft.
Some people are like slinkies.... not good for much but bring a smile to your face when you push them downstairs.

You would need some ladder to change the wheels where you come from Knobby.
