Help diagnosing a knocking noise under the van when driving

Postby LiamClark97 » Mon Dec 02, 2019 7:51 pm

I drive a 2010 Ford Transit 85 T300S FWD on 81k miles, just recently had a service, MOT and only 1500 miles since

The problem occured when i drove over a curb at low speed and i think the curb slightly hit under the van but at the time didn't cause for any concern as it wasn't a loud or angry hit.

The Problem:
there is a knocking sound when cruising and low rev accelerating, it sounds like theirs a moving part under the motor which keep hitting on something else after every rotation (doesn't make any noise when idle). It gets faster as i accelerate but when i press the brake it seems to stop. i have had a look under the motor whilst stationary but cant seem to see anything out of the ordinary.

if anyone has any idea or suggestion to help me please let me know and ill also answer any questions as i'm new to owning the van and ideally would like to keep it in excellent condition.

Cheers
Liam

Could be anti roll bar drop link that's come off one end and hitting on driveshaft

We had a similar problem after driving off the ferry at Dover.

After several hundred miles the knocking stopped, to be replaced by a plaintive foreign language voice.

Taking some speed bumps at 90mph solved the problem
