Injector leak off test

Postby minishep » Tue Dec 03, 2019 8:26 am

Hey guys and girls, long time lurker first time poster. I i have a 2004 Transit 135 T350 van and have been getting the dreaded miscelanious fuel system error code. The local ford dealer pretty much told me to scrap it but im a tight ass and like tinkering....

Have just performed the injector leak off test results are as follows
Cyl 1 7ml
Cyl 2 2ml
Cyl 3 4ml
Cyl 4 4ml

My question is number 1 is clearly stuffed but what would cause number 2 to be so low?

Love to hear your thoughts

Low is good, but not zero.

If you have TIS it tells you the calculation to use.

It’s something along the lines of, work out the average of the 3 lower ones, so say 3ml. Then multiply by a number, say 2.5, so that’s 7.5ml, meaning a maximum allowance for the highest flow permissible.

It also explains how just re entering/ learning the injector correction factors can have an influence in leak through rates.

Dont scrap it sell it to me :D

The first time I see leak off test results as above... What time and what kind of test was done? (Delphi fuel system).
Self-made test, four minutes, only idle - result lower than 35-40 ml is ok.
Test using IDS (during this test engine works twise some seconds 3.000 rpm) result lower than 45 ml are ok. Once I had result more than 100 ml with one injector (rest 20-35 ml), but pump was fresh from regeneration and there were no problems with errors (P0251/P1211).
