Gearbox

Postby oldyellar » Thu Jan 09, 2020 8:51 pm

I have eu5 mk7 tipper and the prop shaft has snapped off from the gearbox  it appears to be the part that slides into the gear box that has snapped! The part of the gear box you bolt the prop to on the prop.
My question is can this part be changed? The part the prop bolts to that comes out the rear of the gear box.
Thanks john

Not sure if that I the part I'll need to further inspect it today.

If it's snapped the drive flange that comes out the gearbox I'd be concerned that it's not bent the output shaft too, and that there's no other damage down the driveline or chassis as I reckon that'd take some effort to damage that.
Have a look, get some pics an let's see where we go,
The flange should be replaceable easy enough, though if the rest is ok.....

Thanks for the replies guys this is second time this had happened. First time due to driver error the prop came up and hit the tipper frame and done a bit of damage
The driver went from 5th to 2nd gear and thsts how it happened first, he had it repaired as I was on holiday never managed to look at it.

This time I suspect it was wheel spinning/ drifting as the passenger told me there was a bit of drifting before it broke

Truck only done 27k before the display went off due to tachometer removal it must roughly have 50k on it now

I dont it's the 3 bolt one though.
We've got to the bottom of this now the, bolts came loose that hold the propshaft to the flange on the gearbox, causing it to rip that screw in end out the tail of the gearbox.
Had the full prop renewed and got that part that was ripped out for £150. Vehicle off the road for over a week though
