Sliding door to barn door

Postby mjsroofing » Tue Mar 24, 2020 6:37 pm

Has anyone modified the side of a transit to have a barn door instead of a sliding door.

I don’t know about later models but probably mk5 police vans had this option something to do with being rammed in the side and stilll being able to open the door .

I have to ask why mate, I've just gotto! I can't think of any advantages to that. You must have some kind of need for it I suppose...

The American mk8 taxis had barn side doors.

I don't think it would be too hard a job if it was hinged on the front, as the rear latches like a normal door after the track

Sorry for the late reply,
I'm thinking of converting van once I buy a new works van. Then I'm thinking of using a drive away awning, a sliding door doesn't work very well with drive away awning.
Plus if I make a single door it leaves more wall space inside the van for a beer fridge
