Postby markbow » Sat Sep 19, 2020 9:26 am

I have a weird clicking noise which I think is the trip mileage resetting which it does back to 0
most times when the ignition is turned on I have to reset the radio code every morning first start I can do short runs and leave the van for two or three hours radio is fine until next morning but nine times out of 10 the trip mileage will reset
if I leave the ignition on after five minutes same thing will happen in the cluster will go blank no lights on cluster
as I've been trying to use forcecan to take tachograph off
many thanks in advance
Mark

Depends on what van you've got but sounds like a typical flat front battery in a Mk7 that's got twin batteries.

Just disconnect front battery and connect positives together on the rear one. Will get you going but would recommend replacing the front one.
See what happens to the codes when you remove the dead battery from the system.

Because that one serves the ecu’s locking , dash, radio and BCM module
Low battery voltage causes these to go hay wire

Hi Airthies
thank you very much you was 100 percent right
just put the battery tester on it back one 100% front one nothing
I know the back one looks after the starter motor as I have had to pull it off many times
when star motor keeps spinning there's always a spanner in the little thing before the cupholder
many thanks for all your help
