Full service, including fuel filter, still the same. Running out of ideas now

Noticed something new today!

It's worse in the morning, it was 5⁰c this morning and it was an absolute pig, juddering like mad at 40 in 4th and 50 in 5th, on my way home from work it was about 13⁰c and not one Judder at all in 20 miles, this has happened all week!

Could it be outside temperature related such as a MAF sensor or a inlet pressure sensor?

Still absolutely no codes apart from water in fuel which I've looked at and apparently that's normal and a software update would clear this.

i had a gurgle judder in my 2.4 mk7 changing the turbo actuator fixed this as the calibration of the turbo actuator arm is crutial to within 1.5mm to function properly. however the turbo must be calibrated to the new actuator.. i made an adjustable arm. you can also set the turbo in the correct position without flow testing. needs to be set while engine is idling and 1.5 mm away from where the arm bottoms out.. and turbo has to come out to loosen its bolts. then plugged into the wireing.. to do the setting. then retitened and installed. but no one will do this for you, cause they want your money for flow testing. also check you maf sensor and egr as they are linked to the computor

He has a FWD 110, totally different setup and has a wastegated turbo, not even close to your 2.4 RWD with VNT and electronic turbo actuator....but thanks for the info, very interesting for those of us with 2.4 115's & 140's with the electronic turbo actuator.

It's getting worse! Like a real heavy thumping in the front. Seems a lot worse today than ever before. As I've read, could the driveshafts be the issue? How would I go about testing this? I have a feeling it's more mechanical than electrical.

Definitely temperature related, it's awful in the cold, damp mornings, gets better as the engine warms up but still there.

Could a dodgy MAF sensor or inlet pressure sensor be the cause? It doesn't show anything on Forscan when mapping the data though.

Have you tried turning cruise control on at these RPM (if u have)? Does it still do it?

Unfortunately I don't have cruise control.

Million times worse in the cold, feels like something is going to break. I graphed up the EGR/MAF sensor along with manifold pressure, whilst the manifold pressure says stable, the EGR is going from 0-100% about 5 times a second - this is blanked off anyway but also the MAF sensor is fluctuating.

Ordered a new EGR to see if that changes things and if not then a new MAF. I am thinking that if it was mechanical then I wouldn't see these fluctuations. Failing all this then it's driveshafts/clutch. I'm pretty sure this is a SMF though but may be wrong.

Replaced the MAF, no change. Doing the EGR this weekend.

MAF & MAP sensors rarely fail....and often get replaced needlessly.

If you get MAF & MAP fault codes, it's usually the EGR causing it.

I know, but the values I'm reading for the MAF are all over the place, along with the EGR values - fitting the new EGR tomorrow.

Another issue today, the fuel rail pressure at idle was 100bar above the demand, did a injector learn but couldn't complete a pump learn as it was above its limits - off to get another SCV as I'm sure I was sold a cheap Chinese copy from P F James but charged for a genuine Denso one.

Well low and behold, the new EGR and inlet clean didn't solve anything. The clean needed doing anyway as it was filthy. Going to have a look at the shafts tomorrow to see if I can see any play.

It's somewhat better today - refitted the boost pipe properly, replaced the pipe from the actuator and ran some injector cleaner through it. Now come up with P268B fault code so off for another SCV as I wasn't sure the one I fitted was genuine. It's reading about 100bar above demand at idle so won't do it's pump learn procedure. Anyone know what order to do the learns in?!
