2006 ford transit Duratorq 2.4L

Postby avandelle » Fri Oct 23, 2020 5:00 pm

OMG i made it in!!!! thanks heaps im hoping this amazing forum will be my salvation!!!

ok have had a nightmare. i have a 2006 ford transit Duratorq 2.4L 6 speed manual LWD, VinWF0LXXFL5G74841

Absolutely love, it but i just found out its had an engine swap i didnt know it should have been six speed it is a 5 speed manual now. so i need to figure out how to find out if anyone can advise please

don't know what im doing as had no car knowledge till 3 weeks ago now im ripping i up and loving it. so finding many random things that are not in any manual or book or online.

#1 problem, i cant buy anything for the engine as no one knows what it is. had to pay 600$Au for service where i live all they did was swap oil and change filters and check fuses. they told me there was a leek in coolant hose and after 4 days and abuse from ford plus another 100 in hoses and figured out it was a totally different hose leaking. that's a really nice guy Paul from John McGrath Ford in canberra figured out it was different engine also i found a lot of stuff in the past two weeks and been fixing it myself!!!! arg!

#2 There is a big blue plug with red locking tab hanging in drivers footwell it seems to be supposed to be plugged into a white female high on at the back on right behind clutch into white socket facing upwards.

#3 the fuse box's in engine, there is a big one with 4 diodes, 46 fuses 13 relays a 4 and a 2 fuse auxiliary box also but only 2 fuses in it AR2,AR4 the fuses don't really match specs the online stuff goes up into the #100 and the AR numbers seem all to be RA numbers

#4 there is a random pipe sticking up from somewhere left hand side of engine towards the front it bends at a right angle 1inch/2.5cm from top no hose attached and has what looks to me like a round piece of pipe welded to il like it should hold another pipe or tube against it.

ill attach picks and hope for the best at this point. thanks for your time all the same.
so im so confused and need some guidance if this has made sense to anyone. please Jevus i need some help. cheers.

Eden..?? Lovely part of the world, been there a few times.

It's a Mk6 2.4. Only the 135 ps 2.4 TDCi Mk6 had the 6speed. What ps/hp is your engine.??

Mk6 and Mk7 were changed in 2006 so yours must be the last of the Mk6.

Your VIN number is not complete, should be 17 digits. If you can let us know what it is we can tell you what your van was when it left the factory.

hello, thank you for the reply info and sorry im for my late response. Yes it is a lovely place. i really appreciate any more connformation/info you can provide.

the vin is WF0LXXTTFL5G74841

Mk6 2.4. Only the 135 ps 2.4 TDCi Mk6 had the 6speed

my info that i have come across so fa and i i presume by your info it is

Ford transit Van, 2.4L, Duratorq, Turbo Diesel, 6 speed manual, 101kW, LWB, RWD, Model code 54419, Medium roof hight, paint and trim: W8/G1

Cooling system: 9.5-10.0, ASM Hydraulic system: MAX Mark

is it a 350L Van LWD? Unbaked:750, Braked:2750?

2006 (made 2005,released 2006)

The engine number was L5G74841 but i have been told it was changed to a newer 5 speed.

lastly, im presuming it is not a 2.3lDOHC as this is an option in the manual.

No lift pump.

And what do you mean by hi-speed/lo-speed cooling fan..??

The 2.4L has an engine driven fan and a separate electric fan if air conditioning is fitted.
