Battery Light Flickering

Postby steve.weaver » Fri Oct 30, 2020 8:27 pm

Hello and thank you in advance for any help!
My mk6 transit has a battery light that flickers, particularly if I accelerate and then take my foot off the throttle. I have replaced the alternator and the battery (both brand new). The battery is reading 12.2v when the engine is off, and does not change when the engine is on (hence it's draining the battery, and its really flippin annoying!).
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The van should be reading 14.5 ish volts when on so charging the battery. Check the wires to and from the alternator I would guess for the first port of call.

Thank you, but I have checked them (several times! and with a multi-meter for continuity, all ok). I've also tested for positive short and poor earth, no problems there either. I'm wondering if I've bought a duff alternator.. (£65 from Euro Car Parts).
