Right so I've changed 2 injectors and the actuator had more play than the old faulty 1 so I changed the head over, it is not wandering now.
The van starts to hunt a little so I think I'm looking at a new scv.

The exhaust today smelt a little less acrid and more like the normal smell you get. On taking up the smoke was white /grey then black again. I will fit the new bc injector and the ac injector with the bb nozzle from the old 1.

Next I think will be the turbo core but do I send the turbo back for 124 quid? Took ages to swap it. I will need an actuator and a core of I send it back. Or do I give them my actuator for sending me junk?

Not sure what the fault is really though not had anything like this before. Bloody ford.

6 pages  your nearly as bad as me  your not alone with the grey/black smoke, I've seen alot of diesels like that this week, mine included, I've been able to roll coal since fitting the turbo core 3000 miles ago.

Other then fuel issue or split boost pipes I can't see what else it could be now

You and me both, problem is I bought a used turbo which when I undid the rod it was seized solid, I gently freed it off but it still has a slight bit where it could stutter. I was doing a bit of driving today and booted it on a hill or 2 and couldn't see any smoke. It seems to smoke when the throttle is ahead of the turbo so if I kick it to the floor fast then it smokes until it catches up. Also with load of it is loaded it'll take longer to catch up. If that makes sense. So it seems that there's a turbo lag on fast throttle. But it was spitting a bit and seemed to clear. That was before putting the correction factors in which I've now done.
Also I've found another mot station that does class 1 to 7 but doesn't advertise, it's a little farm round the corner from my house, no idea what he charges but he seemed a bit sympathetic to me. We'll see.

That's what you want, a local place that you can get familiar with if your starting to do MOTs for folk, that's my mates regular job service and MOT he checks them over, repairs as necessary, does a quick service and pops them round the corner for a test, car comes back ready to go.
He's got a good relationship with a motor factors that drop stuff off within an hour so by the time you've got things striped the bits are usually there to rebuild.

That sounds like a plan. I have a motor factors down the road who I hope I can get to deliver. I went into this farm and there were like stables as you first go in with a guy in there fixing cars and you go up the hill and there's the house and to the left a massive barn which is where the ramps were, guy eating a sandwich and I assume his wife. I waffled on with my problem, and the wife was talking to me, she said they were mad busy for some reason and only word of mouth because they wouldn't cope with the workload. They have a mechanic but he's not mot capable. Which I got the impression that the place lacked organisation. I visualised a lot that could be done to make more of it but I guess that's not my call

Anyway ill see how it goes.

I took my van out today and I tried to get it to smoke, it can be done just about. I have 2 more injectors to go on so we'll see. Also it sounds a bit more rough like it's running on 3.5 cyl or the egr is knocking. I'm not sure.

So my 91 quid injector came today. I installed it and realised while looking for my other injector that I was going to install and I think I threw it in the skip in work

Will do the learns tomorrow and hope it passes the emissions like that. It is hunting and I've tried a few scv albeit old crap. But I don't think that would cause black smoke would it as the injectors are in charge of that side.

Still smoking. Not done learns yet but as I originally suspected i don't think it is injectors. Turbo and compression test. Although it has loads of power. Scv might need doing too but that shouldn't affect the injectors /fueling.

I'm thinking there may be a leak at the inlet manifold and maybe something at the exhaust.

The engine sounds a little rougher than it used to like the air box is booming. Although before there was no boost from the turbo so any pressure etc I think now might be more noticeable. I've blown into all of the pipes and found no leaks but obviously I can't blow 22+psi  if I rev it hard in neutral I can smell the exhaust at the front near the engine too.

Right I'm thinking of giving up and scrapping this van.

I've pressurised from the turbo to the inlet to about 30+psi and can't really see our hear any leaks.

Right I've done more work checking boost etc. I unplug the turbo actuator and it doesn't smoke, i plug it in and cycle the ignition and it resets the fault status and then smokes. So I need a known working actuator please.

Right so.
With the old 95ps software and plugged or unplugged vnt there's smoke, but no malfunction as it thinks there's a wastegate turbo but the wastegate isn't functional and probably the boost its wrong.

So I put the 130 software on and it all works and no codes malfunction but black smoke but also has boost.

Unplug the vnt actuator and no black smoke at all, revs with mid boost as the vnt isn't being adjusted and also has engine malfunction

So disconnect actuator from turbo and lock in position that gives no smoke, leave actuator plugged in to stop codes and go for MOT.
