Would explain the smoke though. I wonder if injector cleaner can sort it? :P

Anyway I don't know if the measurements on the bottles are accurate or actually mean ml, if they are then I'm screwed.
No the bottles are not in ml they are in cm which is not the same. The measurements are meaningless.

That's good, but surely ml or cl would be logical though? 50ml being 5cl which on these days that my injectors are leaking back like fook but they measure about 30ml on my home made kit.

Next logical thing is to calibrate by getting an accurate measuring bottle and using that.

Baby bottles are great, that's what I use, measurements on those are fairly accurate

Did you get a set of learns to go through ?
If so your injectors theoretically should be within the operating specs, not perfect but as you know they if badly out are the main culprit for fails when learning.
Don't know if you can get it but over here there's an injector cleaner made by GAT a German company . I have in the past disconnected the feed and return from the filter head to the tank, put a full bottle into a gallon of clean diesel and run it for a while.
As a rule I don't run the fuel back to the tank as the fuel returning back to the tank is the colour of a bad glass o stout and will eventually work it's way back to the pump as when the cleaner dissolves it's sits in a super fine suspension in the fuel.

Cheers Davy I plan on doing that there's a video on youtube, I'll use a filter. I drove to work today and didn't see any smoke and the power is great.

Strangely it passes the learns every time. I get it about the injectors though I've had some right bitches for failing the learns. Another thing though, when left it is sticking to start first thing. Before it was on the button. I might use the injector cleaner after it gets mot. If it does that it, today I'm booked in for emissions test. There's a little bit of smoke in neutral and floored.

Right so it failed again despite there being miles less smoke and I can't see any while driving. So unless I go and buy 4 new injectors I'm not sure what to do. It hasn't had a right good threading to clear it but if I rev hard it clears so I'm thinking it is being produced rather than cleaned from the system.

I'm thinking the exhaust is clogged up. 2 reasons. 1,in the mrs 307 I bought and replaced the turbo it smoked like fook up and down the estate and I couldn't clear it, I ended up replacing the exhaust and that cured it. If I have my van on tickover there's no smoke but if I put my hand on the tailpipe and hold it the pressure builds up and when I let go thick black smoke puffs out and covers me. My van has the cat and the middle box only. Can I confidently clean it out or should I replace it?

I'm also thinking injectors need changing. Rings etc should be ok yes? Also stem seals are new. I was thinking of removing the cat for the purpose of testing by revving the engine and see if smoke comes out the same as the exhaust.

Does this injector treatment clean the exhaust out well enough or will it cause it to smoke for weeks?

Leave the cat as is, Go to the next box and drill a very small hole in the very base of the box at the lowest point to see if any residue drips out if none then a tack weld will cover it.
If you hold your hand over the exhaust at tick over it curtails the engine breathing, more exhaust gas is drawn through the egr the fuel air mixture goes way way too rich that probably what's giving you the soot when you remove your hand

It's dry smoke /soot that is coming out?
Also the breather pipe seems to build up a decent amount of pressure and blows when I take my finger off, although remove the oil cap and it seems normal pressure.

This is being very elusive.

I'm looking at getting the injectors checked. Don't really want second hand ones or reckon but 600+new on a whim isn't really my cup of tea, weekend ill replace the timing gasket and the vacuum gasket to stop the external leaks and I'll see if I can clean the engine a bit. I'm planning on undoing the cat from the manifold and I'll give it some throttle, it will smoke like fook of it is the engine rather than the exhaust yes. :P

Yes but...dont rev the fook out of her or your new turbo won't be new for very long as you need a little back pressure in the system to stop the turbo overspooling

It's a second hand turbo just less worn than the original and the actuator works but yes agreed, the mot guy just blipped it from zero to wot briefly and a good bit of soot came out.
