Loss of Power on 2011 2.4 rwd

Postby blakeysvan » Sat Feb 06, 2021 9:39 am

Hi All,
I have a 2011 transit panel van 2.4 Rwd 67500 miles, full service history etc.
it suffers with a loss of power when reaching 3000rpm on a fairly flat road and will not rev any further, the van almost feels as though it is being held back or a massive weight added to it, it is even worse on inclines and will not rev over 2500rpm even when changing down the gears again with the feeling its being held back. When going down hills or parked in van revving it will rev normally.
I have had the local ford dealer run diagnostics and no fault codes they also updated the pcm.
Has anybody had similar problems and possibly point me in the right direction to get it sorted, many thanks

Did they do "Live data" ...fuel rail pressure, desired vs actual, throttle pedal, EGR etc..??

When was the fuel filter last replaced.??

When were the learns last done..??

Also forgot to mention it takes at least a couple of attempts to start it when cold and then chucks loads of white smoke out.

Yep...needs to go on live data to see what's actually happening.

Hard to start could be a few things but often the PRV is not happy. So nearly 4 years since it had the learns done and at least 3 years since fuel filter was replaced.

Simple things first.

Fuel filter and live data will be a good start.

Hi all just another update, although i changed the fuel filter and problems persisted it has turned out to be contaminated fuel, the garage has cleaned out fuel tank and fuel lines put another new filter on(at my request) and so far it would appear the problem has been solved currently done 200 miles all of which trouble free, will update if things change.
