High level brake light

Postby STEVE P » Fri Apr 16, 2021 5:23 pm

Every year I get an advise on the above either not working or being hard to see.

I was going to fit a new one but the plug on the loom that connects it to the light was fooked.

I found this on Aliexpress https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001207 ... 7304LRhbOw

It arrived today and it comes with 6 inches of wire and a plug so I just snipped off the old plug on the van and fitted some new connectors.

I ordered the one in black so it even looks better.

No more advises for me. :D

Hi,

I had exactly the same issue with the plug on the end of the loom on my ‘new’ van. When I looked at the MOT history before I bought it I could see it was a recurring advisory and the previous owner had given up and removed the light and taped over the hole. I ended up buying an original light fitting and carefully cutting off the plastic outer part of the original plug to reveal just the 2 female pins inside. I cleaned these, sprayed with contact fluid cleaner, closed them up slightly with pliers and then pushed them onto the pins at the back of the light fitting with some heat shrink for protection. I’ll see how that goes and the fall back will be something like your purchase but seems ok so far.

Cheers, Richard
