It will be the glow plugs them self's that have failed.
Best to change all 4 because you need to remove the inlet manifold and EGR valve to get to the plugs.

the engine is different from the regular mk7 2.2, i suppose its because of the year

can someone with knowledge of this newer motor give me some tips and tricks to do it the easiest way?

2012 will be a euro 5.
The glow plugs arnt wired together like older diesels but are wired individually and run at a differnt voltage (4.4 volt I think)
Still need to remove inlet manifold.
I took egr off to clean it at same time.
Mine ran for years with no4 not working.
Then 3 and 2 failed last winter.

can someone tell me what will happen when you drive with two faulty glowplugs for a long period of time?
i've had the van for six months and it does sound bad and judders until its warm, then it works and sounds smooth.

All four of my glowplugs were open circuit until recently. Still started and ran fine. Fords wanted £350 to change all four.

It sounds steep to me but what do I know.
Is it a reasonable price?

They are a pig of a job. Not just getting to them but the risk of snapping them off aswell.
