Where is aat sensir on ford transit 2012 rwd?

Postby Kgnot » Mon May 10, 2021 11:46 am

Hello guys,
After i fixed the issue of the van dying cold because the fuel rail pressure sensor i am on a missoon to inspect all sensors.
The mini computer i bought can conduct a test of the performance of the car and it shows EOT sensor and AAT sensor as bust because they show impossible tenperatures .
I can change the EOT sensor with the help of a mechanic but he is not shure what AAT sensor is.
I see on internet is states as Ambiet Air temperature but under the bonett.
Not to be mistaken with the IAT sensor which shows correct temperature and is new already. It is way under the car so it is not that one.

I think the AAT is part of the mass air on the top of the air filter.

You mean this one? When i put the digits is comes as a MAP sensor. Am i doing something wrong or it is the wrong sensor?
I also upload the video of the conputer readings

Signal is not great here so cant view video.
That's the sensor, had some work done on mine and was told it's a combined mass air flow and air temp.

The map sensor is in the inlet manifold.

Unless the AAT is part of the sensor that shows out side air on the dash which is in the drivers wheel arch.

What do you mean an open circuit? Like there is a cut wire or something?
How can they function and give readings? I wi change the EOT tomorrow and if it gives normal readings rhen it is the sensor

I dont know with the sensors on engines but when a sensor fails on a boiler it can read as a open circuit.
I'm only guessing that's why my IAT shows -40 when its plugged in or not.

So basically you reconfirm that minus 40 is shown because sensor is bust.
I have the number cleaned and i shows as the MAF sensor

8V21-12B579-AA Ebay gives it as a MAF sensor

I'm guessing its bust.
Long story short I was too busy to sort my own van so sent to someone who kept throwing parts at it.
They changed the maf for a Hella branded version which led to starting problems and heated screen switching its self on when outside temp was eg 15c.
I'm trying to sort it myself now So I bought a genuine ford MAF and waiting for the IAT to arrive.

This is what I boughthttps://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284088628393

Yeah all elecrronics have to be original otherwise it can damage the pcm.
And also ford parts here is not helpful a bunch of incompetent cowboys we are really left on our own..
I still feel like MAF sensor is not the AAT sensor. I need it to come up as an aat sesnor on internet

I changed it and it came up as the MAF sensor being changed so that is not the AAT sensor whatever and wrever that is.

From what I can gather, the Ambient Air Temp sender (AAT) is the one under the drivers wheel arch which enables the dash temp display, and allegedly helps to control the aircon, although my van (which has aircon) didn't have an AAT as standard, until I fitted it :?

Hmm... Is it possible my van doesnt have either and this cheap machine shows it as 215 degrees just as standard nill data?
Because only temerature on the dash is for the engine temperature and it seems to work with reasonable numbers.
I am not shure i have aircon but the warm air works
EDIT: I also want to say that I did not pay the full price for original MAF sensor. They probably wanted to sell me the entire maf unit from frod because on ebay I found the same original sensor for much less
