Postby Fullenglish73 » Tue May 11, 2021 6:36 pm

Hi all getting the squeal from driver side wheel, can anyone tell me what i should expect to pay for a bearing replacement using a ford bearing ?

I paid about £300 in my local garage for the N/S one on my Mk7, which I assume is similar to yours.

a genuine wheel bearings around 50 quid-https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/1209746986?iid=124268217396 and its about an hours work, but its not that hard to do yourself if you have an angle grinder and access to a press. or go the easy wayhttps://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/224452141921 ... xy3cJTey2M , this way its just a few bolts, (thats a mk7, but you get the idea)

To be honest no I'm no expert, all i know is it's a high pitched whine seems to be front driver side that quietens when i slightly steer left and right, it's been getting worse.. other then the noise van still runs smooth,
any other ideas as to what it could be much appreciated.
